AVN starts today with the biggest adult entertainment expo in the world

                It’s that time of year; Las Vegas turns into a winter porn land as AVN rolls in town along with a slew of adult entertainers, producers, strippers, fans and more.  This year’s adult convention and award show returns to the Hard Rock Hotel for another year of pure unadulterated fun.  Every year the show is kicked off with a star studded celebration, but this year they got an early start on the excitement.  AVN has a tradition of “The Annual AVNAwards Nominations Party” going into their third year where members of the adult entertainment community get together for an on-stage announcement of some of the big categories.  This year’s AVN Award hosts are Anikka Albrite and Joanna Angel. 

                The award show recognizes achievements across the industry’s four sectors – video production, online enterprises, retail outlets and pleasure products.  The committee spent weeks sifting through pre-nominations submitted by industry members to compile finalists for this year’s show.  The AVN Novelty Expo (ANE) will be held from Jan. 20 – 23, followed up by the AVN Awards on Saturday Jan. 23 inside the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.    

                “We went back to the drawing board in a sense this year and reexamined how we as an awarding body acknowledge the product on the market, with an eye towards beginning to focus more on the individual sex scene as a predominant, driving archetype for adult entertainment, as opposed to the full-length movie.  Of course, full movies of all stripes are still very much a part of the adult landscape, and we hardly moved away from giving them their due.  As always, it was an intense, painstaking process but I’m tremendously proud of the results, and on behalf of my fellow committee members, I offer the highest congratulations to all the nominees,” said AVN Senior Editor Peter Warren.

                The biggest changes this year was the inclusion of scenes distrusted solely on the web in several major categories, other than that, AVN continues to tweak the categories in AVN Awards, to keep up with change in the industry.  Among nominees for sex scenes this year were performances that have yet to be distributed on DVD, but were released directly to the web, including X-Art.com, PervCity.com and Brazzers.com contents.  Another change was the additions of Best Polymory Movie, to recognize the abundance of movies released that celebrate many aspects of non-traditional sexual liaisons.
