COMMONWEALTH TO HOST ALL-STAR COCHON EVENT

Commonwealth and Cochon 555, a national culinary competition promoting heritage breed pigs, will join forces for All-Star Cochon, a late night Asian feast on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 5 p.m. The non-competitive pork tasting will celebrate the end of the Cochon 555 fifth anniversary tour.

Featuring Chinese, Szechuan, Korean, Thai and Japanese fare, guests will devour the flavorful menu created by ten select chefs and butchers from across the country at the Downtown venue. Pork enthusiasts will also be treated to a head-to-head butcher demonstration.

Priced at $100 per person, general admittance is available at 6 p.m. which includes food tastings, Silver Oak Cellars and Labor Wines, beer, Fernet Branca cocktails, ciders and the “Perfect Manhattan” Bourbon Bar featuring Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Hirsch, Four Roses, Breckenridge Bourbon and Luxardo cherries.

Recently named one of the “7 New Reasons to Hit Las Vegas,” by the New York Post, Commonwealth brings a stylish new social scene to the burgeoning bar district in Downtown Las Vegas. The swanky 6,000-square-foot cocktail bar is a collision of art and architectural influences inspired by pre-Prohibition era design and libations; complete with its very own backroom speakeasy. Crystal chandeliers bring a touch of elegance to the overall design, which evokes a worn, industrial ambiance. The cocktail menu combines classic and progressive methods and ingredients to offer drinks like, “Men in Tights” and “Little Hot Mess,” that make an indelible impression. A rooftop bar offers an experiential setting with an urban brick feel and 360 degree views of downtown.

Created by Taste Network’s Brady Lowe in 2009 in response to the lack of consumer education around heritage breeds, Cochon is a national event series that takes place in 17 major markets. In addition to its flagship event, Cochon 555, the Cochon brand now offers a variety of experiences each year. The expressions, with national followings, include Cochon Epic, All-Star Cochon, Heritage Fire, Cochon Island and Cochon Heritage BBQ. Since its launch in 2009, Cochon 555 and its programs such as Chef’s Course have supported responsible family farming across the country resulting in 35,000 people tasting heritage pigs, with more than one million dollars going charities, culinary schools and farmers across the country.
