Top Rank Boxing hosted a great fight at Texas Station Casino Las Vegas with the upcoming Magdaleno brothers.  The headlining NABF Super Featherweight Title bout with Diego Magdaleno against Marcos Leonardo Jimenez ended unexpectedly after the 5th round when Jimenez corner requested to stop the fight.  Marcos did not expect to lose coming in to this fight but he was no match for Diego.  The crowd was in pandemonium through the entire fight screaming “Diego” and “TKO”.  Diego came out with guns fully loaded and hit Marcos with everything but the kitchen sink.

Early in the first round, Diego knocked Marcos down setting the momentum for the rest of the fight. In the second round all Marcos seem to do is duck and cover, he could not predict where the next hit was coming from.  Marcos landed a few counter punches but it was no comparison to the flurry Diego unleashed on him.  Marcos spent most of the third round in the corner as Diego worked his body and face with his left hand and a serious hard combination of jabs.

By the 5th round Marcos seem to wake up a little but it was too late, Diego was killing him with his left and mean uppercuts.  It was obvious that Marcos was losing the fight so his corner had no choice but to stop the fight considering Marcos right eye was closed.  The crowd screamed “Diego House” as Diego’s coach picked him up and carried him around the ring to celebrate the victory.

In the Heavyweight fight between Valente Tinajero and Julio Cesar Dos Santos, the fight was stopped in the 6th round giving Santos a TKO.  This fight was more like watching paint dry.  By the second round both fighters ran out of gas and thought it was over after the 4th round.  When the referee told them NO you got two more rounds, both fighters looked like they had seen a ghost.  Both fighters were tired and throwing sloppy punches nearly the entire fight. Even the officials were ready to throw in the towel after the 4th round; the referee had to ask them to ring the bell to start the 5th round.   It was only obvious that someone was either going to quit or just dance until the fight was over.

In the Featherweight bout between Eduardo Arcos and Roberto Marroquin, the referee stopped the fight at 1:21 in the 4th round after Arcos humiliated Roberto with a hit that left him dancing around the ring like a ballerina.  Arcos seemed to be losing the fight coming in the first few rounds but woke up in the 3rd.  After knocking Roberto down in the 4th, he hit him one last time and sent him stumbling forcing the ref to stop the fight.

In the Super Bantamweight fight between Cain Garcia and Jesse Magdaleno, it was not secret that Magdaleno was the crowd favorite and the stronger of the two fighters.  The crowd booed during the announcement and almost through the entire fight screamed “Jesse”.  Jesse started out very strong and focused hitting hard and fast.  In the second round Jesse hit Garcia with a hard right and the fight went downhill from there on for Garcia.  In the 3rd round, Jesse was warned for low blows but that did not change the outcome of the fight.  Jesse leaned into Garcia with a hard right and sent Garcia to the ropes and down to the mat.  After a quick 8 count, Garcia came back for more and the ref ended up stopping the fight at 2:24 of the 3rd round.

In the Welterweight fight between Tyler Pogline and Anthony Lenk, Lenk won the fight by unanimous decision, but it didn’t take the judges score card to see that Lenk was the winner.  Coming in to the fight Pogline was very aggressive but seemed to focus more on the mat than the fighter in front of him.  Pogline came in the fight with his trunks pulled up to his chest and over confident.  In the 2nd round Pogline got sloppy with his punches missing and nearly falling out the ring.  Lenk remained focused and solid in punches.  By the 3rd round the crowd began to boo at Pogline’s poor performance, this seemed to get Lenk excited because he started punching faster and harder.

Pogline landed one good punch in the 4th round but it was no match for the combinations Lenk returned.  The crowd was screaming “take out the trash” referring to Pogline looking like trash.  More laughs and boo’s were shared among fans than cheers.  By the 5th round Lenk was still standing strong and full of wind, all Pogline could do at this point was duck and cover.  By the 6th round fans were begging to stop the fight.  Pogline nose began to bleed and at this point the fight was over before the bell rang, Pogline just was not match for Lenk.

In the Super Lightweight fight between Fernando Rodriguez and Jose Benavidez Jr, Benavidez spanked and humiliated Rodriguez for 6 full rounds.  Benavidez started out very strong landing great body shots and combinations even on the rope at times.  The referee warned Rodriguez 3 times during the fight about illegal and low blows.  Benavidez won this fight mostly on his killer body shots.  After he worked his body over he landed hard combinations leaving Rodriguez dazed at times.  For every hit Rodriguez landed Benavidez returned at least four more.  In the 3rd round Benavidez knocked Rodriguez mouth piece out sending spit flying as far back as the second row.

By the 4th round the referee was giving Rodriguez a look “what are you going to do now”?  Rodriguez ran out of gas that round but he managed to land a few good upper cuts and jabs.  His nose began to bleed making Benavidez excited; he began to rush him swinging nonstop.  By the 5th round Benavidez seem to start running out of gas and Rodriguez started taunting him, using humor to mask his pain.  By the 6th round Benavidez shots far outweighed Rodriguez as he started to bounce back.  Overall it was a weak ending to a great fight, Benavidez wins by unanimous decision.

In the Middleweight fight between Orphius Waite and Abie Han, the referee stopped the fight at 2:14 of the second round when Waite went down for an 8 count and never recovered.  They say you can tell the winner of the fight by the first punch.  Waite swung with all his might and missed and that set the tone for the rest of the fight.  Waite was knocked to his knees in the 1st round and by the second round could not defend himself against Han’s combinations and body shots, forcing the ref to eventually stop the fight.

Top Rank put on a great fight full of action and great upcoming fighters.  Ringside were Fernando Vargas and Hall of Famer Michael Carbajal cheering for the Magdaleno brothers.  It was action packed and fans seem to be pleased with the outcome of all the fight of the night.  It was a great night at Texas Station Casino the most comments made after the fight was hopes that there will be more fights at the venue.  Time will only tell.
