Crop loss heavy in California hail storm 2012
California stone fruit growers’ damage estimates in the wake of an April 11 2012 hail storm have yet to be completed, but some are expected to face massive crop loss.
“We’re definitely still in the assessing mode,” Barry Bedwell, president of the Fresno-based California Grape & Tree Fruit League, said April 13 2012“But there are clearly certain orchards that will not see any fruit harvested.”
Crop loss heavy in other nations in our world 2012
Heavy rains on March 26, 2012 caused significant damage to croplands in the coastal provinces of Ecuador. According to the country’s National Security and Risk Management office, torrential rains and landslides have resulted in a loss of an estimated 34,000 hectares of crops. The largest losses have been in the provinces of Guayas, Los Ríos, El Oro, Manabí, Esmeraldas, and Loja. Two of the provinces, Guayas and Los Ríos, just declared in a state of emergency due to the recent rains according to the Minister for Coordination of Production, Santiago Leon.

SNAP Cutting What Works
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
THE FOOD BANK WORRY NATIONWIDE
food pantries are concerned major budget cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, may increase their already difficult burden. struggling families may soon become even more scarce if Congress moves forward with drastic cuts to SNAP.
“If funds are cut from the SNAP program that is going to put a tremendous pressure on all the hunger relief agencies in this area and around the country,” said Andrea Helms, communications director for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. “Those people aren’t going to have any other place to turn but the emergency food pantries.”
But food pantries themselves are struggling, too and for the same reason: dwindling budgets. More than 80, 000 people will be cut off SNAP / EBT Early in 2013

Here, he shares 10 things you didn’t know about him.
1.
I'm a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with cancer about 10 years ago. I went through chemotherapy and had a massive cancer surgery. I'm better now and I live my life like it’s the last day on earth.
2.
I have this obsession with being a rock star one day. I love music and I play the drums. I'm also the best air guitarist ever!
3.
I love the Steelers and I have a man cave that’s all Steelers all the time.
4.
I love hanging out in San Diego whenever I can. I love riding my beach cruiser up and down the coast.
5.
My favorite thing to eat late at night is cookies and milk. I love Cookie Monster and I have a tattoo of him on my arm.
6.
I hope to have my own cooking show one day.
7.
I'm a self-taught chef. I worked my way through the restaurant business since the age of 16. I've worked at places like Wolfgang Puck, I was the chef at Z Tajas and I was the youngest executive chef in Hard Rock history at the age of 22.
8.
My lucky number is 22. It seems to come up in my life every day in some way.
9.
I love spending money and I can out-shop my wife.
10.
I like the underdog. I love giving people a chance in life. If I meet someone that I think will do well in the kitchen, I will offer that person a job hoping that I can make his or her life better in some way. At sporting events, I always root for the underdog.
