WHAT: Fremont Street Experience will kick-off the holidays when Mayor Oscar B. Goodman flips the switch to light Las Vegas’ official Christmas tree. Standing just beneath the 12.5 million lights of the Viva Vision screen the 50-foot tree will be adorned with festive Christmas decorations. Promptly after the tree lighting Candy and the Canes will perform.

The official Las Vegas Christmas tree will be on display at Fremont Street Experience through the Christmas holiday. Candy and the Canes will dazzle audiences Thursdays – Mondays, staging three shows a night at 7:15 p.m., 8:15 p.m., and 9:15 p.m. on the 3rd Street Stage through Dec. 26.

Police arrested and charged a 16-year-old Tuesday with the killing of another teen in Gastonia over the weekend. Family members said Zaquavious Dawkins, 16, was running errands for his mother Sunday night when he was shot three times in the back on North Chester Street.
