Allen Iverson Hosts Pro Hoop Tournament Nov 12 - 13

Allen Iverson Hosts Professional Basketball Hoop Tournament in Las Vegas

With the NBA in a lockout, the league’s top stars have been playing in charity and exhibition games.   This is just what the economy and the fans need to stay in the game.  Former NBA star Allen Iverson will host a two day professional basketball tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center Las Vegas Nov. 12 – 13.  Iverson is working with the Justice Entertainment Group on the four-team Las Vegas Superstar Challenge.  "I think this is a great opportunity to do what I love," Iverson said in a press conference last week. "I was affected by the last lockout (in 1998), and it killed me not being able to play. This is a great opportunity to get to see guys play together that you would never normally get to see on the same team in a competitive atmosphere."

The star-studded lineup includes four teams, with Iverson teaming with a roster including Kevin Durant, Paul Pierce, Joe Johnson, Andre Iguodala, Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph, Jamal Crawford and Thaddeus Young.  Even with talks resuming this past weekend the NBA season is ruined.  So the basketball pros are doing the next best thing by participating in community geared exhibitions and events to keep them in touch with their fans and ways to continue to give back even in their down time.  Iverson has been out of the NBA since 2010 and has spent the most part of last year playing in Turkey before suffering a calf injury.  He was the NBA MVP in 2001, when he led the Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA finals.
