On July 31, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada at 11:am on saturday morning. Jameel Perry had a stretch limo arrive to take him on a
shopping spree. Jameel Perry was chose to have a shopping spree from MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION OF SOUTHERN LAS VEGAS, NV
CHAPTER. They granted Jameel Perry a shopping spree wish because Jameel Perry has Sickle Cell Anemia an has already suffered
a stroke in August, 2009. Jameel must receive chronic blood tranfusions every 3 weeks for the rest of his life and he is on numerous medications daily to prevent another stroke. The MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION reached out with open arms to give Jameel a very, very special day, to make his wish come true
and to see the shine come from the sparkle in his eyes was there goal. Jameel Perry suffered a stroke on the right side of his body and was paralyzed. he was in the hospital for three weeks and was moved to a rehabilitation hospital for another month. When he came home he had outpatient physical and occupational therapy three times a week for a year to learn to walk, feed, dress and do all the things he use to do again. This was very challenging and a rebuilding task to help strengthen his mind and body. He also had to learn how to read and write again and is still learning. Jameel has been out of school for a year in the homebound studies with no interactions with kids. This seemed to be the hardest part he was dealing with and being able to fit in.
Jameel Perry's great spirit to fight through all of his adversities, prove to give him strength for a faster recovery. Since the stroke, Jameel Perry
has suffered damage to his motor skills and mental processing skills. Before the stroke Jameel enjoyed math and science. He has received
many science awards in the pass. He was a very good thinker when it came to math in which he did excell in at school and the rebuilding
is still in progress. Jameel started back to school a month ago and he is on his way to middle school in the fall. MAKE A WISH showed much love and wishes to a little guy that has been through alot. Jameel was soooo excited when he was selected for a wish. He was looking forward to that day and was counting down the days. The date was timed perfectly around his birthday on July 27th which fell on a tuesday. Jameel's mom who is five months pregnant and I gave him a party in his new class room at his new school. The kids really enjoyed Jameel's party and he became a hit with all the kids for having such a cool party with gifts for the girls and boys. On Saturday of the same week of his birthday the count down was on because on July 31st was the big shopping spree. Jameel wanted a limo to come pick him and his parents up. He wanted a playstation 3, a guitar, a guitar amp and all accessories to the guitar. He also wanted a 26 inch mountain bike, a 26 inch flat screen tv, a computer, bongos, video games, clothes and lunch at T.G.I.F. Fridays.
Jameel had five hours to get all of his things. Jameel got everything he wanted on his list. Jameel Perry and family broke the record for the most organized shopping in the history of MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION. Jameel Perry was done shopping in two hours with three hours to spare. Jameel and family had his last wish of the day at his favorite place to eat at Fridays with his parents Nicole and J. R. Perry. Mr. J. R. PERRY is a sickle cell activist, music producer, tv producer, voice over expert, singer, song writer, talk show host and published author. J. R. Perry encourages his son to remain strong, brave and victorious because for every new day brings on a wonderful tomorrow. He encourages him to trust in God because he is the healer of the world. Jameel seems to understand what his dad is talking about because Jameel has such a warm, kind and peaceful spirit. Despite all of the pain and suffering he had to endure as a child that suffered a stroke, because of the negligence of a medical doctor with his medical care caused Jameel to have a stroke. Jameel is not bitter at the world. He is just another sickle cell patient that was handled poorly because of neglect and not following proper protocol. There are many kids like Jameel Perry that are not receiving the proper care with hospitals around our nation. So thank God for great foundations like MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION. The huge drop of love and kindness made a little boys dream come true. With a day to remember for a lifetime. On behalf of the Perry family, to the great people at the MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION. We would like for you to know that we really appreciate everything that your foundation has done for our family and we are truly grateful and we thank you very, very much from the bottom of our hearts, for shining your love light on Jameel Perry.
