The Las Vegas Aces (5-3, 1-1) fell 1-1 In Commissioner’s Cup Friday against the Seattle Storm (7-3) Friday and will travel to Los Angeles to meet the Sparks (3-7, 1-2). This makes the 13th game that A’ja Wilson scored over 20-plus points (29) per game, tying the league record set by Phoenix’s Diana Taurus (July, 22, 2006 to May 19, 2007).  Wilson continue to lead the WNBA in scoring (28.0 ppg) and rebounds (12.3 rpg), and second leading with blocks (2.63 bpg) and six steals (1.88).  She is 15 points away from bring honored as the fourth youngest player and 3rd fastest player scoring 4,000 in her career.  Wilson is the only player in the WNBA to record 36+ point, 12+ rebounds and 6 steals in a single game.  The Aces were without Kierstan Bell and Chelsea Gray due to lower leg injuries.    

Kelsey Plum scored 18 points while the other Aces added only 18 from the (6 of 30) and 3-point range (4 for 17) against the Storm. Jackie Young (18.3) ranks nine and tenth in the league in scoring and and assists per game.  Young is also third in the WNBA in assists per game (7.0 apg), averaging one turnover ever 14.5 possession, and tied with Dallas Wing in top free throw shooting. The Aces is the third best rebounding team; making them without a doubt the most aggressive defense team in the W (102.6 points per 100 possessions) and average a turnover every 14.5 possessions.  Las Vegas is tied with Dallas with top free throw throw shooting.  Las Vegas is the sixth best defense in the league and rebounds wot 74.5 off the board.         

Dearica Hamby led the Sparks (20.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg) and is one of three players averaging 20 or more points in the league and 10 or more rebounds per game.  Kia Nurse (11.0 ppg) is the only other member of the Sparks averaging double figures. Los Angeles offense ranks 10th in the league with 94.4 points per 100 possessions, they are also the best offensive rebounding team however they have more turnovers in the W.  Overall they are ranked 8th in the WNBA allowing 101.2 points per 100 possessions.  The Aces are 46-54 over the Sparks with 14 wins of their 15 meetings.

The Aces has partnered with Freedom For All Nevada for the Commissioner’s Cup this year and since has raised $3,000 to support the groups mission of “building grassroots and political power to engage and mobilize communities, lobby state lawmakers and advocate for reproductive freedom in the Silver State”.  Since Breonna Taylors murder 1547 days ago, three officers have been federally charged.  One officer plead guilty to two counts of conspriacy and has officially been convicted.  The other officer will be scheduled for a new trial October 14, 2024.  The ACLU is tracking 515 anti-LGBTQ+ bills in the United States.
