Tacos & Tequila (T&T) at Luxor Hotel and Casino will celebrate Thanksgiving Thursday, Nov. 28 with turkey selections created by Corporate Executive Chef Saul Ortiz. The holiday menu will feature two lunch options including Turkey Tortas, priced at $11, and Turkey Tinga Tostadas, priced at $8. The Turkey Tortas are made with white and dark turkey meat, chorizo, mashed potatoes and jalapeño aïoli served on a fresh bolillo bun and accompanied with a side salad made with mixed greens, toasted almonds, pear tomatoes and Panela cheese and tossed in cranberry vinaigrette. The Turkey Tinga Tostadas are prepared traditionally to embrace the flavors of Mexico City in which tender, shredded turkey is sautéed with tomatoes, onion, garlic and chipotle adobo, topped with fresh lettuce, bean puree, chipotle aïoli and Cotija cheese served in a crispy corn tortilla shell.
For dinner, the restaurant will offer a Turkey Combo, priced at $19. The combination includes a Chile Relleno, egg-battered and stuffed with poblano peppers, white turkey picadillo, carrots, potatoes and dried cranberries smothered in adobo sauce; Turkey Alambre Tacos made with white and dark turkey meat, Mexican cheese, bacon and poblano peppers served in a flour tortilla with a side of rice and beans; and a Turkey Tamal made with white and dark turkey meat wrapped in fresh masa dough and then smothered in mole poblano. For a sweet holiday treat, the restaurant will offer Pumpkin Flan with dark caramel, egg custard, and cinnamon drizzled with tequila cajeta sauce, priced at $7.

Chef Ortiz recently appeared on Food Network’s “Chopped,” where he brought modern Mexican cuisine to a national platform. Named one of the best tequila bars of 2011 in America by USA Today, Tacos & Tequila embodies the cool modernism of Mexico City while incorporating traditional elements of Mexican style and Las Vegas flair. The color mixture of old and new creates a vivid picture of brushed aluminum, dark wood, leather, bright fabrics and colored glass. The focal point of T&T’s design is its abstract sombrero composed of 20 brushed-aluminum panels featuring thousands of laser-cut images, including two 30-foot dancing, tequila-drinking skeletons. Lit from within, the breathtaking panels stretch across the entire length of the restaurant floor and across the common area, connecting the T&T retail store and walk-up daiquiri bar.
