Niners offensive lineman Al Netter, who spent his rookie season on the practice squad in 2012, was arrested for driving under the influence Wednesday in San Jose, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported.

Netter, 23, who attended Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, is the third 49ers player to be arrested for DUI in the past 13 months.

Through a spokesman, the team issued a statement: “The 49ers are aware of the recent matter involving Al Netter. We take these issues very seriously, but will reserve comment at this time as this is an ongoing legal matter. The organization will continue to gather the facts and monitor the developments closely.”

A four-year starter at Northwestern, Netter turned down an opportunity to join the 53-man roster of another NFC team this past season, believing he has a bright future in San Francisco. Before the Super Bowl, he said he would have been promoted to the Niners’ active roster if an offensive lineman had been sidelined. The 49ers were one of three teams to use the same starting five offensive linemen in every regular-season game in 2012.

“It came down to making a decision for the long run, instead of making a decision based on the immediate future,” Netter said.

Netter signed a reserve/future contract earlier this month, meaning he will be on the roster when the league year begins March 12.

In January of 2012, 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested for DUI in Miami Beach. Reserve defensive lineman Demarcus Dobbs was arrested for DUI and marijuana possession in Santa Clara in November.

This AI Generated Song "I Feel Like Slapping A N*gga" Today Is Fire!

Chris ?C-Smooth? Smith was born in 1952 in Jacksonville, Florida. Chris Smith was a fierce competitor both in the boxing ring and on the soul music charts. A former lightweaight contender, Smith?s boxing career was cut short in 1975 after an injury during a title fight sidelined him permanently. Seeking a new outlet for his fiery energy and natural charisma, Smith turned to music, bringing his pugilistic passion to the world of 1980s soul. Smith made headlines in 1980 when he famously slapped fellow artist Will Rock during a heated exchange at the Grammy Awards. This unexpected incident became the spark for his controversial 1982 single, ?I Feel Like Slapping a N Today.? The song, blending raw emotion with an infectious groove, explored themes of frustration, defiance, and the pressures of fame. Despite its polarizing title, the track became an underground hit, earning Smith both praise and criticism for his unfiltered storytelling. Posted By Ghost
